Bob Bob Ricard

It was my birthday this past week and I was treated to the most amazing meal at Bob Bob Ricard in Soho to celebrate.

The restaurant

Beautifully set places

I’ve been wanting to eat at Bob Bob Ricard for a while, half because of the food and decor sounding amazing and half for the legendary ‘press for champagne’ button 🙈. The interior is done in an art deco style, and the food is a Russian/English inspired menu, which is a pretty unique combination.

The dress code is ‘elegant’ so make sure you aren’t looking scruffy. They explicitly ban gym wear. They also do not allow under 15’s into the restaurant.

Service

I can safely say I was not in the least bit disappointed after all the hype. As someone who spent years working in hospitality I often find it slightly frustrating when I go to a nice place and the service is substandard. That can be rushing you through your meal, taking too long to clear empty plates, not being attentive (such a kicker when you are doing bottomless and you spend 20 of your precious minutes with an empty glass).

The waiters were incredible, filling up the wine whenever it was low, not rushing us and perfect silver service standard. I was super impressed by the whole experience!

The menu

Obviously the first thing we did was decide on our champagne for the evening, so I could get on with the oh so instagrammable button press! It was so satisfying and we picked a really great vintage Bolliger which was delightful 🍾

In Russia, you have a vodka with each course

And the food was sensational. I didn’t have a starter because I didn’t want to over stuff myself because I was so excited about the mains and desserts! But I did have the delicious bread and butter they brought out (I am pretty addicted to nice bread with perfectly salted butter). Plus a vodka shot because apparently that is the Russian way and I am all for learning about cultures and traditions 😁

Then for the main, a garlic and herb chicken Kiev with truffle mash 👌🏻 it was so damn good!

Truffle mash of dreams

The truffle mash was unbelievable, definitely one of the tastiest things I have ever eaten! And the chicken was perfect with the seasoning of the Kiev on point 🙌🏼 the Boyf went for a steak, which I am assured was very tasty, and we then washed that all down with another delightful shot of vodka at minus 18 degrees.

For dessert we ordered the chocolate bomb for sharing, which was very dramatic and just as tasty. Then, unbeknownst to me, arrived a red velvet cheesecake with a sparkler and a happy birthday sign 😍 it was so great I felt very special (and very glad I’d agreed to sharing a dessert now that I had a bonus one!).

Thoughts on the Bob Bob Ricard dining experience

It was such a fantastic evening and I was blown away by the experience and could not have picked a better place to celebrate the occasion 🥂 I truly felt like a birthday princess, thanks to my wonderful boyfriend for taking me there for such a fantastic meal ❤️. It is not a cheap place, especially if you want champagne, why would you go otherwise really. So definitely would recommend for a special occasion such as a birthday, anniversary etc.

You can check their website here for full menu and location.

Update: I have since been back for a lunch and can highly recommend the Lobster truffle mac and cheese.
