Bottomless brunch and halloumi – dreams can come true

Ok so anyone who knows me will know how obsessed I am with halloumi cheese.

As a former vegetarian it has been a diet staple for me for many years 🧀

So when I saw on Secret London’s Facebook page that Soho restaurant Las Banderas were teaming up with Visit Cyprus for a six week special bottomless halloumi brunch, I was very excited.

Ironically I was actually in Cyprus on holiday with my pals when I saw this 😂 but I tagged my boyfriend in it anyway, complete with angel face emoji and being the excellent boyfriend he is, he joked about me not being sick of halloumi after a week in Cyprus and booked it anyway! (He is the best).

So finally Saturday was the day. We made our way to Soho, possibly a little bit hungover so very keen to get there and stuff our faces.

We had booked our table for 12pm and it wasn’t too busy when we arrived – we were sat at a table in the corner with nice comfy chairs. We ordered 2 Campari and Fig spritzers straight away – got to make the most of the 1hour 30minute bottomless time limit! 🍹

The menu was small, comprising of a dish with halloumi and pork belly, a halloumi finger sandwich with avocado, aubergine and halloumi pancakes, halloumi soldiers and eggs, a halloumi pitta and waffles with halloumi ice cream!

We stayed pretty safe with our options, going for the pork belly and the finger sandwich. These turned out to be great choices. Decent sized plates with good amounts of halloumi. Nice and filling for our day of sports and drinking!

Next we sampled the harissa bloody Mary’s on offer, which were pretty tasty but I can only drink one at a time as they are too filling! Another round of spritz was ordered too, before ordering the bill and a final cheeky glass of cava.

The bottomless menu was £32 per person and each dish could be purchased separately for between £8-12. I would say it was decent value for the money and definitely a nice difference to regular brunch! I really liked that we weren’t made to pick one drink and stick to it as I wanted to try both the cocktails on offer!

Definitely worth a try if you’re looking for a brunch or a fan of halloumi! 😊
